A very lazily thrown-together collage of some of my favorite photos from 2025.
Specifically, my favorite photos that I took and uploaded to this blog in 2025.
I subscribe to the The Atlantic (no surprises there) and I really enjoy their posts that simply feature photos taken that week or year that are impactful in some way. They recently released their “best photos of 2025” featuring the most impactful photos (mostly news) of the year.
I decided to make my own “top” list by selecting my favorite photos from this blog over the year. Maybe I can make this an annual thing.
This is by no means exhaustive, but here is a list of some of my favorites in no particular order.
From Fire in the Sky (nobody was abducted in this photo). From Weekend Photo Outing. I’ve photographed this statue a couple of times but I particularly like this angle. From We are not Silent, We do not Consent. A local man screams “THIS IS TYRANNY!” at a crowd listening to a speech given by Robert Kipp during the No Kings protest in Presque Isle, Maine, on October 18th, 2025.From Caribou’s Power Plant and Boring Childhood Car Rides. I like the way this shot makes the building look so imposing. From Misty Morning on the Bridge. Diesel power plant in the fog in Caribou, Maine. From Empty Spaces. This photo of the birch trees near where my grandparents house used to be just outside of Van Buren, Maine. I can remember those trees being there in my earliest memories of my grandparents. Also from Empty Spaces. Another photo from where my grandparents house used to be. This is the firepit out back. Many chicken thighs and steaks were grilled in that fire pit as we sat around it, drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon and eating dilly-beans canned by their neighbors up the Parent Siding road. From Giant Erection. Another photo that makes a Caribou landmark look more imposing than it needs to be.From The Trees are Frosty, Get the Drone. This one is a top down drone shot of the Aroostook River. It reminds me of a landscape painting of a field and distant hills with a starry sky and an upended bird flying across our field of view..
