Weekend Photo Outing

,

Just a guy with a weird antenna-looking thing on his back (360 camera on a stick), a drone, and a big-ass camera shooting photos and video of mundane stuff around town.

Realistically, I don’t have any time to go out and take photographs, record videos, and otherwise just play around with my camera gear, so I have to put effort into making time for those things. This was one of those days.

I woke up on Saturday morning and took my usual glimpse out of our bedroom window to check the condition of the dawn. Was it overcast? Clear? Maybe a blazing sunrise?

That morning it was quite colorful and looked like it might have some potential for nice drone footage.

Getting out there first thing in the morning gave me the momentum I needed to further procrastinate on other house projects that have been awaiting completion, some for years, and spend the rest of the morning going out and getting photos and video footage. The rest of the day would then be spent processing those photos and putting a video together, followed by another full day of putting the finishing touches on that video, posting to social media, then working on this blog article…

You can see how this can be come quite a time-suck, but I think it’s worth it. As Kim likes to tell me, “Does it bring you joy? Then do it.”

I’m pretty much the luckiest guy on the planet. Here are some of the photos I took yesterday.
