It officially feels like fall now that Kim has put up the bird feeders and we’ve had the first fire of the season in our fireplace.

It doesn’t take long for the birds to figure out the feeders have been put out. Within hours of Kim hanging and filling the feeders, our front porch turned into a small airport with tiny birds flying in an out every few seconds.
If you stand by the feeders, which I did this morning, camera in hand, they’ll fly within inches of your head to get from their perch in the nearby trees to the energy-packed sunflower seeds they crave.
We also had our first fire in the fireplace yesterday. This one was special because it was the first one that Braden, our youngest, made on his own in the fireplace using firewood he helped bring in from the woodshed.
It was a proud moment for me and just plain exciting for him ๐
I was too present in the moment to think of getting pictures of him building the fire, but here are a couple of closeup shots of the end result.

There’s really nothing like a warm fire on a chilly evening.
